Last week when I met my best friend Lily downtown, I was extremely surprised at her new haircut. As is known to all of our friends, Lily treasured her hair as much as her life. Her hair used to be very long and almost reached her waist, which has drawn lots of attention from young guys at school. Thus, it took me hours to recognize Lily when a girl with a bob haircut called my name."Is that you? How come you had your hair cut?" I couldn't believe my eyes. "Well, it's a long story." She smiled. In a coffee shop nearby, Lily told me about her story.
Lily was surfing online when an advertisement caught her eyes. It was a Pantene's advertisement focused on hair donation. It said many women lost their beautiful hair as a result of cancer and it was unfair for them to be bald. In order to give their beauty back, Pantene launched a campaign calling on people to donate their hair to produce high quality wigs. Lily was moved by this advertisement, and she wanted to help them as well. After several days' struggling, Lily finally made up her mind and went to her hairstylist for haircut.
"How brave you are!" I was totally moved and inspired by Lily's behavior, "Can I donate my hair to Pantene?" "I'm afraid not," Lily shook her head, "Pantene has some rigid requirements for donation, and I don't think you can meet all of them." Lily said the minimum length of donation should be eight inches, but my hair was too short. "Why more than eight inches?" I was confused about this rule. "Because a wig is made of more than six ponytails, and everyone's hair is too unique to find one with the same color and quality." Lily explained, "To create a wig is complicated work that needs time and patience." Lily told me that wavy or curly hair is fine if its length exceeds eight inches after straightened by a straighten iron. "Your hair should not be permanently colored or chemically treated, and the color should not be more than 5% gray."
